As-Sunnah Trust

As-Sunnah Trust is a non-political and charitable organization dedicated to non-profit education, Dawah and total human welfare. This organization is endeavoring to the best of its ability to serve the humanity, reform the society, inculcate best ethical values, create employment, eradicate poverty, promote the Islamic Tomuddun, run multifaceted educational programs, distribute reliefs, provide low cost or free medical service and carry out various projects to develop pure mindset, and above all, to build an ideal welfare society by inviting people to the obedience to Allah, the Exalted and the imitation of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) by means of all oral, written and modern media following in the footsteps of the Great Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), the teacher of mankind, the envoy of mankind’s freedom and peace, the role model of serving mankind.

Goals and Objects of As-Sunnah Trust:

This Trust has been founded in order to promote the ideology of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), the mercy to mankind; and it aims to serve humanity and establish a compassionate society and peaceful world being inspired by this ideology. Our activities include the following:

  • To promote Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Shariah (Laws), Sunnah (way) and ethics across the globe, and to stand against all kinds of local and international false propaganda, refute all allegations in a scholarly way and dispel all types of ignorance in this regard.
  • To facilitate the writings of research papers and books on Tawhid, Sunnah and pristine Islamic guidelines and to publish, promote and distribute the books, booklets, leaflets, etc.
  • To set up Mosque-based Moqtobs, primary schools for teaching the Qur’an, Qur’an Memorization Institutes, Teachers’ Training Center, and to publish translation of the Qur’an and to formulate various courses for teaching the Qur’an with meaning.
  • To use technology, media and internet in order to instill moral values, maintain religious harmony, encourage tolerance and love, and to preserve the nature and the environment.
  • To provide institutionalize education and informal education to women, children, boys, girls and adults; to set up madrasahs/schools, colleges, universities, institutes, etc.
  • To organize competitions and quiz contents at the national and international level, and to reward the winners of those programs.
  • To train up and sponsor the teachers in order to promote Sunnah.
  • To give scholarships to the poor and meritorious students of madrasahs, schools, colleges and universities.
  • To arrange for dialogues pertinent with education, communal harmony and religions as well as conferences, seminars and so on; and to provide assistance and counseling for eradicating the poverty of the destitute, orphans, widows and helpless people as well as for raising children, acquiring education, finding employment, availing medical service and seeking legal advice and so on.
  • To help and take part in any activities related to serving the humanity, the society and the creation.
  • To cooperate and collaborate with individuals, organizations, trusts and forums of national and international levels to facilitate the abovementioned initiatives or any activity which is permissible in Islam.

Dr. Khondoker Abdullah Jahangir (Rah)

Abdullah Jahangir As-Sunnah Trust was founded by Dr. Khondoker Abdullah Jahangir (Rah) who was a reformer and one of the best Islamic scholars in the subcontinent.

Name and Brief Biography:

Dr. Khondoker Abdullah Jahangir (Rah) was a renowned scholar and the author of many books. His full name was Abu Nasor Muhammad Abdullah Jahangir. His father’s name was Khondoker Anowaruzzaman (Rah). He is known nationwide as Abdullah Jahangir.

Birth and Childhood:

This great thinker was born on November 5, 1958 AD, corresponding to the 19th of Kartik in the Bengali calendar year 1365, and the 23rd of Rabi’ al-Sani in the Hijri year 1378, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon in the village of Digonagar under Shailkupa Police Station of present Jhenaidah district in Bangladesh. (His real date of birth is November 05, 1958; although his date of birth is February 01, 1961) Norohoridra of Jhenaidah Town was his native village. Later his father started to reside at Dhopaghata-Gobindopur village in Jhenaidah Town permanently. He spent most of his childhood in a house called “Mi’ar Dalan” in Muraridoho.

Student Life:

He was admitted into Jhenaidah Alia Madrasah in 1968. He passed Dakhil in 1975, Alim in 1975 and Fazil in 1977 from there. Later he pursued higher education and enrolled at ‘Madrasah-e-Alia, Dhaka’ in the Hadith Department for the academic years 1977-79. He secured the eighth position in the Madrasah Board with honors in Kamil from the aforementioned department. In 1981, he was granted a scholarship and got the opportunity to study at the Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from there in 1986 and a master’s degree from the same university in 1992. In 1998, he earned his PhD degree.

Teaching Career:

He ended his illustrious student life in Riyad, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Later on September 3, 1998, he joined Kushtia Islamic University as a Lecturer in the Department of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies. In 1999, he became an Assistant Professor, in 2004 an associate professor, and in 2009, he was promoted to the position of professor in the same department, where he continued working until he passed away.

Social Contributions:

In 1998 AD, he founded the “Al-Faruq Academy”; and then in 2011, he founded “Abdullah Jahangir As-Sunnah Trust” with the noble aim of promoting authentic Islamic knowledge and providing humanitarian services. At present, this organization is carrying out various types of Islamic and social activities including disseminating Islamic education, serving poor women and orphans.

Death:

On May 11, 2016, he passed away in a road accident. He was 58 years old at the time of his demise. May Allah grant him a high status in Paradise!

 

The Chairman’s Speech:

Dr. Khondoker Abdullah Jahangir (Rah) founded As-Sunnah Trust at the beginning of 2011 in order to impart the true knowledge of Islam to people. This organization is a non-profit and educational organization. From the outset, countless people have been benefitting through this organization in various ways. Not only promoting Islamic knowledge, but also serving the needy and deprived people of the society is a fundamental activity of this organization.

This trust has been founded with the view to promoting the ideology of Allah’s Messenger, Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) who was sent as a mercy to all the worlds, and to provide humanitarian services being inspired by this ideology as well as establish a compassionate society and world. The activities of this Trust include the following:
