Boys and Girls Hifz Division
Operated by the Befaqul Madarisil Arabiya Bangladesh Board, memorizing the Quran is one of the most important blessings in a Muslim’s life, a source of endless honor and reward. This honor and reward extend not only to the students but also to their parents and relatives. On the other hand, the Quran is the source of all Islamic knowledge. The complete memorization of the Quran alone cannot achieve the perfection of “Islamic education.”
In our country, a particular problem in the field of Hifzul Quran is that Hafiz students may not return to mainstream education after completing their memorization due to advancing age. Consequently, countless “uneducated Hafiz” are prevalent in our society, which is undoubtedly a distressing situation and a hindrance to Islamic education. To address this problem, As-Sunnah Trust has arranged for students to complete their Hifz before their primary completion examination.
Students who complete Hifz in the second or third grade at the age of 7 or 8 are enrolled in the Hifz division. They complete Hifz within 4 to 5 years. After that, they are prepared for the primary completion examination. They participate in the primary completion examination in the same year as they complete Hifz or the following year. This way, they become capable of completing their primary education by the age of 11 or 12.
As-Sunnah Trust has separate arrangements and accommodation for boys and girls in the Hifz division.

Expansion of formal education based on Islamic values and the training of specialized scholars in various branches of Islamic knowledge are among the primary objectives of the As-Sunnah Trust. The formal education division of the As-Sunnah Trust is known as “Jami’atus Sunnah.” This division, which specializes in Hadith studies, operates under the largest and long-term project of Jami’atus Sunnah. The goal and objective of this division are to establish a system for producing capable scholars in the pure Islamic creed, practice, and ethics.
For secondary, higher secondary, and undergraduate education, the core textbooks and curricula of the Komi Madrasahs have been maintained, with special emphasis on general subjects. A curriculum has been developed for boys for a duration of 9 years and for girls for a duration of 8 years. Currently, both the boys’ and girls’ branches are operational until the Jalalain Jamaat. In the coming academic year (1440-1441 H.), the Mishkat Jamaat and subsequent years will commence studies up to Hadith, Insha’Allah.
In the case of boys, the educational system aims to produce transparent researchers, scholars, and competent teachers in Arabic language, Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, and other Islamic sciences. For girls, the objective is to produce experienced, knowledgeable, practicing, ethical, and socially conscious Muslim women proficient in Islamic knowledge, including Arabic proficiency. The curriculum has been developed with this focus in mind. While the fundamental principles are the same for both sections, the curricula differ slightly. Separate arrangements have been made for classroom and residential facilities to preserve segregation.
Responsibilities of the Department:

Da’wah and Interfaith Dialogue
Just as people sometimes become arrogant and develop animosity towards others based on their lineage, race, ethnicity, caste, country, or education, similarly, they also become prejudiced, hostile, or disdainful towards other religions and their followers due to their reverence for their own religion. Islam has demonstrated complete belief in its own religion along with respect for the religious beliefs of followers of other religions, providing complete freedom in practicing religion, granting all human rights, guiding towards the use of the best words and behavior in discussions and debates with followers of other religions, and prohibiting disrespectful remarks towards the revered figures or devotees of other religions (Surah Al-An’am 108; Surah An-Nahl 125; Surah Al-Isra 53; Surah Al-Ankabut 46; Surah Fussilat 34).
Da’wah in Islam and religious dialogue are interrelated. Just as the Quran provides guidance to the believers, it also engages in dialogue with followers of other religions and imparts education to the believers on how to engage in dialogue. Since the era of the companions, Muslim scholars have been studying world religions and comparative religious studies. In the first few centuries of Islam, scholars in this branch of knowledge wrote many books. Upon studying their works, we find substance-based presentation, impartiality, and Quran-guided excellence in their discourse.
In the face of challenges, Islamic educational institutions in Muslim countries attach great importance to the study of comparative religious theories in the Islamic education system. In the age of globalization, the study of various religions has expanded. Atheism, irreligion, religious conversion, especially the activities of Christian missionaries, have significantly increased in Muslim societies. Therefore, the As-Sunnah Trust established the Division of Da’wah and Comparative Religious Studies to provide guidance in religious preaching and to train knowledgeable preachers or “da’is” based on Quran-Sunnah guided excellence, wisdom, and logical reasoning.
Curriculum and Teaching Methodology In the Higher Da’wah Division:
A one-year intensive diploma course is offered.
In terms of the curriculum of the Da’wah Division, the focus is on both students from madrasas and colleges/universities. Proficiency in English is essential alongside the mother tongue for religious preaching. Therefore, special arrangements have been made for students of this division to study Bengali, English, national history, and world history alongside their mother tongue. Moreover, to assist Arabic-speaking students in benefiting from the educational arrangements of this division, the subjects are mostly taught in Bengali, with Arabic subjects kept to a minimum, and emphasis is placed on using Bengali in teaching, learning, and research.
Apart from regular teaching and learning arrangements, there are also arrangements for a minimum of four expert discussions per semester. Expert professors in history, civilization, globalization, Muslim world, literature, philosophy, science, health, and comparative religion conduct discussions and provide debate papers.
Admission Information
Admission procedures are completed by the 10th-12th of the month of Shawwal. Teaching and learning activities start between the 13th and 14th of the month. Students who have passed the Da’wah or Fazil examination from madrasas are admitted to this division. Additionally, temporary study opportunities are available for students studying at colleges, universities, especially Islamic universities, who fulfill the conditions of the Division of Da’wah.
Interested students must fill out the prescribed form for admission and submit it along with the required documents such as birth certificate, citizenship certificate, commendation letter from municipality or union council, copy of their or their guardian’s voter ID card, and two verified photographs. No tuition fee is charged for education in this division. As-Sunnah Trust provides accommodation, food, and education for full-time students. Meritorious students receive scholarships for passing the Jamia examination. Khaleena students have to bear their own food expenses. All admitted students must pay the following fees during admission: Admission fee of 1500 BDT, form and prospectus fee of 100 BDT, total 1600 BDT.

With the aim of preparing Arab students in creed, practice, and research uniquely, the As-Sunnah Trust has established the “Al-Fiqh and Al-Aqidah” division. Professor Dr. Khondokar Abdullah Jahangir (may Allah have mercy on him), during his lifetime, made several attempts to initiate this division. However, due to various reasons, he couldn’t accomplish it. He conveyed his interest and plans regarding this matter to the current theoretical head of the division, Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Yakariah Hafizullah. Later on, the chairman of the trust, Sheikh Osama Khondokar, with his sincere interest, has successfully established this division, aiming to serve religion through scholarly activities.
Importance of Aqidah and Fiqh:
The importance of teaching Aqidah
The importance of Aqidah is immense. Below are some aspects highlighting its importance:
1. The purity of Aqidah implies the purity of Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah). Indeed, its verification and actualization are the purpose for which Allah has created humans and jinn. Allah, the Exalted, says:
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالإِنسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ
“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” (Quran 51:56)
2. All the prophets were sent for the propagation of correct Aqidah. Allah, the Exalted, says:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلاَّ نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ
“And We did not send before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, ‘There is no deity except Me, so worship Me.'” (Quran 21:25)
3. The acceptance of deeds depends on the purity of Aqidah. A flawed Aqidah may sometimes nullify deeds. Allah says:
“O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds.” (Quran 47:33)
4. The eternal salvation in the Hereafter and the correct consequences depend on having a pure Aqidah and Tawhid. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
إن الله حرّم على النار من قال: لا إله إلا الله يبتغي بذلك وجه الله
“Indeed, Allah has forbidden Hellfire for whoever says, ‘There is no god but Allah,’ seeking by it the face of Allah.” (Bukhari)
5. The relationship between the creator and the created relies on having a pure Aqidah. Without a pure Aqidah, one becomes ignorant of Allah, thereby losing the taste of worship. They will not be able to fulfill the rights of Allah, and those who fulfill Allah’s rights properly are assured of not being punished by Allah.
From Mu’adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a donkey, and he said, “O Mu’adh!” I said, “Labbaik, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “Do you know what Allah’s right is upon His slaves, and what the right of His slaves is upon Him?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Allah’s right upon His slaves is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him. And the right of the slaves upon Allah is that He does not punish whoever does not associate anything with Him.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not give the people the good news?” He said, “Do not tell them, lest they become dependent.” (Bukhari 6267, 2856; Muslim 30)
6. True enjoyment and happiness in this world are provided by Allah through the knowledge of pure faith. Therefore, the desire of every servant should be to know his Lord Allah in the best way possible. Consequently, no one can attain true peace until they know their Lord through His lordship, His oneness, His names, and His attributes.
7. Human minds are stimulated by various questions, which revolve within the individual like a whirlpool. Such questions include the attributes of the Creator, the purpose of creation, the beginning and end of the universe, its purpose, various topics related to creation, the relationship between different elements of creation, and the determination of their purpose. The true answers to these questions can only be obtained through the education of pure faith.
8. Explaining matters related to faith, verifying them, elaborating on them, and inviting others to them allows the Quran and Sunnah to be deeply rooted within.
9. Correct faith is the key to success in this world and the Hereafter. Therefore, those who hold onto it firmly will be the triumphant group, the saved community, and the supported category. Thus, it is the duty of every individual to adopt pure faith. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
“There will always be a group from my Ummah manifest upon the truth, not harmed by those who forsake them, until the command of Allah comes, and they will always be in that state.” (Muslim Book of Conduct, Chapter: “His Saying, ‘My Ummah will always be a group upon the truth. Those who oppose them will not be able to harm them,’ sequence 1920)
10. Unity among Muslims will be based on the standard of pure faith, starting from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the companions, successors, the four famous Imams, scholars of Hadith, and scholars of every era who promoted the path of truth. Therefore, it is imperative for everyone to be prepared according to this.
Importance of Teaching Fiqh:
1. Those who receive education in Fiqh gain deep knowledge about the religion. Allah says,
“However, it is not necessary for the believers to march forth all at once. Only a party from each group should march forth, leaving the rest to gain religious knowledge then enlighten their people when they return to them, so that they ˹too˺ may beware ˹of evil˺.” (Quran, 9:122)
2. Those who are educated in Fiqh can acquire deep knowledge about the religion. Whenever there is a religious issue to be resolved, Allah has instructed them to refer to the Messenger and those in authority among them. Allah says,
“When news concerning peace or fear comes to them, they go about spreading it. Had they referred it to the Messenger and to those having authority among them, the truth of the matter would have come to the knowledge of those of them who are able to investigate. But for Allah’s grace upon you, and mercy, you would have followed the Satan, save a few. “(Quran, 4:83)
3. Those capable of acquiring knowledge in Fiqh are blessed by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
“Whomever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding in the religion.” (Bukhari)
Ibn Taymiyyah also said, “Everyone whom Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding in the religion. So whoever is not given understanding in the religion, Allah does not intend good for him. And the religion is what Allah sent His Messenger with.” (Majmu’ al-Fatawa)
4. Those who acquire knowledge in Fiqh gain such competence that they are always respected and esteemed. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
“You will find people to be like mines. The best of them in the pre-Islamic days are the best of them in Islam when they have understanding. And you will find the best of the people in this matter (i.e., those who judge others) to be those who dislike it the most.” (Bukhari)
5. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prayed for his beloved ones to acquire knowledge in Fiqh. For example, he prayed for Abdullah ibn Abbas,
“O Allah, grant him understanding of the religion and teach him interpretation.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
6. The Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of Fiqh. For example
Abdullah ibn Masud said,
“When you pass by the gardens of Paradise, indulge in them.” He was asked, “What are the gardens of Paradise?” He replied, “Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and understanding (Fiqh), the jurist (Faqih) and the one who understands (Mutafaqqih).” (Book of the Jurist and the one who understands)
Abu Huraira said,
“To have knowledge of a single issue in the matters of command and prohibition is dearer to me than seventy campaigns in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime.” (Book of the Jurist and the one who understands)
In conclusion, Aqeedah (faith) and Fiqh (jurisprudence) are integral parts of the religion. As long as one is not capable of gaining expertise in both aspects of Islam, they will not be considered scholars. Therefore, there is no alternative to acquiring knowledge of Aqeedah and Fiqh. May Allah bless us with the knowledge of pure faith and jurisprudence. Amen.

Tajweed and Quran Education Centers
Established by Trust, Tajweed and Quran education centers have been set up for children, adults, and women, either in mosques or home-based settings. In these centers, trained teachers provide instruction on pure recitation, interpretation of selected Surahs, and the meanings and necessary issues related to prayers.
Quran Teacher Training Courses
Interested Imams, Muazzins, scholars, or seekers of knowledge are trained in the method of teaching pure recitation, interpretation, and necessary religious issues. Some stipends are provided to the trainees. Successful graduates are supported to establish Quran education centers.
Ulum al-Sunnah Training Courses
With the aim of producing knowledgeable scholars and preachers who are rich in the awareness of Tawheed and Sunnah, the trust provides one-year courses to selected university students on Quran, Hadith, Ulum al-Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic, English, Bengali, and other subjects. Opportunities and assistance are provided for further research to qualified and interested students.
Quran, Sunnah, and Seerah Research Center
In order to promote correct information and dissemination on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his Shariah, Sunnah, and Seerah, As-Sunnah Trust has established a research center. This center publishes and disseminates research literature, articles, newsletters, and magazines in Bengali, English, Arabic, and other languages. It is engaged in scholarly activities.
As-Sunnah Trust Nurani Kindergarten: Boys and Girls
In 1998, the academy was established with the aim of creating human resources nurtured in Islamic etiquette and manners alongside meeting the educational needs of the general populace. Over the past years, the academy’s students have left a special mark in secondary, scholarship, and completion exams, competitions, and extracurricular activities. Since 2011, a similar curriculum and syllabus have been initiated for girls in the form of Girls’ Madrasa.
As-Sunnah Publications
Established with the goal of publishing research-based works focusing on Sunnah-centered research and publication, “As-Sunnah Publications” has been founded. This institution has already been capable of publishing about 40 research works.

Mosque-based Quran Education Maktab
One of the primary directives of Sunnah is Quran-centric life and propagation. Embracing, providing, and spreading Quranic education according to the methods of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions are among the foremost activities of As-Sunnah Trust. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it” (Bukhari).
In the realm of Quranic education and instruction, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions emphasized comprehension along with practice-oriented education. The companions learned ten verses of the Quran from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), focusing on both knowledge and action, before moving on to the next ten verses (Musnad Ahmad, Hasan Hadith).
Allah Almighty has said: “Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it – it is they who are the losers” (Al-Baqarah: 121). Thus, focusing on understanding the meanings and acting accordingly has been termed as “true recital” in the Hadith literature (Sahih Bukhari, Mustadrak Hakim, Tafsir Ibn Kathir). Guidance has been given to contemplate the meanings of various verses of the Quran (An-Nisa: 82; Sad: 29; Muhammad: 24).
Understanding the meaning of the Quran brings peace to the hearts of the believers, strengthens faith, consciousness of Allah, and love for Him. Reciting and understanding the meanings of selected Surahs during prayers also enhances the comprehension.
As-Sunnah Trust has undertaken various initiatives for Quranic education in accordance with the Sunnah method. Alongside teaching the pure recitation of the Quran, the ability to comprehend its meanings is a key focus of the Trust’s Quran education projects. Establishing mosque-based Quran education centers, providing pure recitation, teaching meanings of selected Surahs, and necessary issues for children, adults, and women are among the primary objectives of As-Sunnah Trust.
Center-based Quran Education Courses
Most Muslim parents desire Quranic education for their children. However, sending children to traditional Maktab becomes challenging for many due to academic commitments. For this reason, As-Sunnah Trust has initiated center-based Quran education courses.
Through coordination and collaboration with interested educational institutions, the Trust offers regular one-year courses and intensive two-month courses during breaks or after exams at these centers. These courses focus on teaching students pure recitation, memorization, understanding essential Surahs and Duas with meanings, and imparting necessary Islamic teachings and rulings.
Quran Education Pre-Primary School
In conventional schools, students are given very little time for Quranic education. Consequently, students are taught limited subjects due to time constraints. To address this issue, alongside the national curriculum, Quranic education, meanings of necessary verses, and essential religious teachings are made easily accessible in pre-primary schools for three to four years. To achieve this goal, the As-Sunnah Trust has initiated a project to establish Quran Education Pre-Primary Schools for a four-year term.
In these schools, from kindergarten to third grade, Quranic education and necessary religious teachings will be provided alongside all subjects of the national curriculum. Upon completion, students can enroll in any government, private school, or madrasa for fourth grade.
As-Sunnah Trust Nurani Kindergarten
Through Quranic education in Maktab and pre-primary schools, we can raise aware and devout Muslims capable of reciting and understanding the Quran partially. Moreover, training experts in the Quran, its meanings, and Arabic language for transparency contributes significantly to societal peace and development. For this purpose, the As-Sunnah Trust has undertaken two projects: (1) “Al-Faruk Academy,” now known as “As-Sunnah Trust Nurani Kindergarten,” and (2) the “Quran Hifz with Financial Support” project.
Established in 1998 with the aim of meeting the demands of the national education system and fulfilling the need for expertise in Quran, Hadith, and Islamic knowledge, Al-Faruk Academy aligns its curriculum with the national curriculum. The academy focuses on imparting proficiency and transparency in Quran recitation, translation, Hadith, Tafsir, Fiqh, Arabic, Bengali, English languages, mathematics, science, and other subjects.
Additionally, emphasis is placed on instilling Islamic principles, etiquette, and morality in students’ personal lives. Over the years, students of Al-Faruk Academy have demonstrated outstanding performance in secondary, vocational, and completion exams, as well as in various national competitions. To cater to the literacy needs of female students, As-Sunnah Trust Nurani Kindergarten Madrasa program commenced in 2011, following the same curriculum and syllabus.
Quran Hifz with Financial Support School
Children who pass third grade from madrasas or schools will be admitted to the third grade of this madrasa at the age of 8 or 9 years. Then, over six years, they will undergo Quran Hifz, including Arabic language, grammar, and the meaning of the Quran alongside it. After the first three years of study, students will sit for the Madrasa Board’s fifth-grade exam. Subsequently, after the next three years of study, they will sit for the Madrasa Board’s eighth-grade exam. Quran Hifz will be completed in the first three years, followed by recitation practice for the next two years. After passing the eighth grade, students can enroll in any reputable madrasa or school for ninth grade.
Language Education Course for Students
Students studying in madrasas and Islamic universities struggle with Arabic language proficiency, which affects their exam results and impedes quality education. Moreover, most students are weak in English and Bengali languages as well. To address this, Abdullah Jahangir-As-Sunnah Trust has launched various courses to provide proficiency in Arabic, English, and Bengali languages.
Arabic Language Course for Educated Madrasa Students
The deterioration of the quality of the country’s educational institutions is well known. Islamic educational institutions are no exception. While many students graduate from madrasas and Islamic universities every year, very few of them possess expertise in Arabic literature, Quran, Hadith, or Fiqh. Many scholars experience difficulty with Arabic language proficiency, hindering their professional lives.
However, there seems to be no way to overcome this weakness. For them, the As-Sunnah Trust has initiated a special “Arabic Language Course” project. Under this course, interested scholars or educated individuals from madrasas will receive guidance in Arabic grammar, composition, conversation, and writing for one year, with three two-hour sessions per week. Cooperation will be sought from interested organizations, institutions, or madrasas to implement this course.
Arabic Language Course with Meaning for Educated Individuals
Understanding the language of the Quran is an extraordinary aspect. Allah Almighty repeatedly says, “We have made the Quran easy for remembrance.” (Surah Al-Qamar: 17, 22, 32, 40) Through experience, we have seen that an educated person proficient in Bengali/English can easily learn the vocabulary of Arabic grammar and understand the meaning of the words in the Quran. Abdullah Jahangir, through As-Sunnah Trust, has created special courses to enable educated individuals to proficiently recite and understand the Quran with meaning.
Niche Madrasa for Working Individuals
Many working individuals aspire to acquire Islamic knowledge. Due to age and busy schedules, regular attendance at a madrasa is not possible for them. For them, As-Sunnah Trust has launched the “Niche Madrasa” project.
Book-based ‘Halaka’ or Ilmi Majlis
For the acquisition and dissemination of pure knowledge of the Quran and Sunnah, the method of ‘Halaka’ or Ilmi Majlis, prevalent since the time of the Sahaba and Tabi’in, is more beneficial than open discussions. For this reason, Abdullah Jahangir-As-Sunnah Trust has undertaken the project of studying Islamic fundamental books through individual initiatives or the help of enthusiastic imams, muezzins, or scholars in mosques, homes, residential areas, or Majlises.
Quran Memorization Competitions with Meaning
To encourage enthusiasm in Quranic education, competitions have been organized for memorizing specific surahs with meaning, and attractive prizes are awarded to successful participants. Separate competitions are organized for students and adults.
Hadith Memorization Competitions (with Meaning)
To spread the pure light of the Prophet’s Sunnah, there are competitions on memorizing a certain number of hadiths with meaning. Competitors will participate in the competition by memorizing a specific number of hadiths with their meanings. Separate competitions and attractive prizes will be awarded for students and adults.
Quran Teacher Training Center
This center provides training to enthusiastic imams, muezzins, scholars, or seekers of knowledge on the recitation, meaning, and necessary issues of the Quranic teachings. Some stipends are provided to the trainees, and attractive awards are given to successful candidates. Additionally, they are supported in establishing Quran teaching centers.
Imam Training and Assistance Program
The role of imams in societal development is paramount. The Muslim society revolves around mosques. Nearly 20-25% of Muslim citizens in our society regularly or irregularly visit mosques. Even those who do not visit mosques maintain connections with various objectives and respect imams. A highly educated and devout imam can effectively disseminate pure religious and humane values among the people in his area and contribute significantly to preventing personal, familial, and social misconduct and corruption. The guidance and advice of imams are more effective than millions of dollars spent on seminars, rallies, etc., against misconduct, terrorism, drug addiction, bribery, violence against women, and enticing. Unfortunately, imams are not fully playing their role in this regard. Although Muslims in our country generously donate for mosque construction, we are miserly when it comes to hiring qualified, highly educated imams for mosques. However, ensuring the presence of highly educated and devout imams in mosques for delivering the best sermons, teaching Quran, and educating on religious issues is crucial for the vitality of mosques. As-Sunnah Trust has undertaken various projects to assist imams in fulfilling their appropriate roles.
Firstly: Providing training to imams on contemporary socio-cultural and life-related issues based on Quranic and Sunnah-centric sermons and discussions.
Secondly: Assisting imams in research and work.
Thirdly: Providing support and grants to eager mosque committees in the recruitment and honoring of qualified, highly educated imams.
Darul Uloom Islamiyah and Arabic
Every year, around 350-400 Islamic scholars graduate from various Aliyah or Qawmi madrasas from all regions of Bangladesh and enroll at the Islamic University of Kushtia. Among them, at least 50-60 students are highly capable and religiously inclined. Generally, within the university environment, all these students gradually lose their knowledge and practice. They become engrossed solely in worldly education and activities, neglecting their religious studies and practices. To address this issue, As-Sunnah Trust has initiated a project to select 20/30 students from among these capable and religiously inclined Islamic scholars and provide them with a one-year intensive training program in Islamic knowledge, practice, and research. The selected students will reside in the trust’s accommodation for one year. Within the regular routine, they will engage in worship, study circles, meals, sleep, university classes, and alongside, they will undertake special courses and training in subjects such as Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic, English, Bengali language, literature, etc. Special arrangements have been made for rewarding successful candidates. Additionally, qualified and enthusiastic students will be provided with opportunities and support for further research under the trust’s guidance.
Takhassusu fi ‘Ulumil Hadith
Aspiring students graduating from Qawmi, Aliyah, or universities will undertake a two-year full-time education and advanced diploma program in Hadith sciences initiated by As-Sunnah Trust.
Quran, Sunnah, and Seerah Research Center
To promote accurate dissemination and propagation of the teachings of Shariah, Sunnah, and Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to combat misinformation, misrepresentation, or misinterpretation on these subjects, As-Sunnah Trust has established a research center. Publications in various languages, including Bengali, English, and Arabic, such as books, articles, newsletters, and journals, will be produced and disseminated from this center.
Sunnah Research Circles
To facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among scholars on Sunnah-related research and to involve the country’s scholars in Sunnah-based research, As-Sunnah Trust has initiated the national-level “As-Sunnah Study Circle.” Under the guidance of esteemed scholars, one or more scholars will be assigned the responsibility of presenting articles on a specific topic related to the religion. The written articles will be sent to all participating scholars for review. On designated days, the article presenter will summarize their article, followed by the scholars presenting their opinions. If necessary, the same topic will be discussed in multiple sessions. Arrangements will be made for the publication and dissemination of all articles based on subject-specific feedback, consolidation, editing, or amendments provided by the scholars.
Nation-religion-caste aside, serving all strata, humanitarian service, and standing by the helpless, vulnerable, or disaster-stricken people are among the foremost Sunnah and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). With the goal of establishing this noble Sunnah, As-Sunnah Trust has undertaken various projects.
Among these activities are the following:
General Service Projects
Standing by the sick and disaster-stricken is one of the prime Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He said, “The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people. The most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or to remove one of his troubles, or to forgive his debt, or to feed his hunger. That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Medina for a month.” (Tabarani, Sahih al-Jami) As-Sunnah Trust, therefore, provides economic assistance, clothing including winter garments, provision of wells and water supplies, educational scholarships for the needy and talented students, and various social assistance and counseling programs.
Poverty Alleviation Projects
Poverty alleviation, at personal, societal, and national levels, was always a focus of Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) teachings. As-Sunnah Trust aims to create awareness about the virtues of physical labor and work by providing economic support, necessary tools for work or business, social support, and essential counseling to alleviate poverty.
Ideal Poverty-Free “Zakat Village” Project
In Islam, the fundamental system for poverty alleviation is Zakat. In agrarian societies, “Ushr” or agricultural Zakat can play a significant role. As-Sunnah Trust’s service and development-oriented projects mostly depend on Zakat and Ushr. Alongside these, the establishment of an ideal poverty-free village based on Zakat and Ushr is another major project of the Trust. By identifying impoverished, unemployed, orphaned, widowed, and disabled individuals in selected villages and providing them with temporary assistance, educational scholarships, employment opportunities, and tools for work, the aim of this project is to gradually make the village poverty-free and self-reliant.
Interest-Free Loan Programs
In addition to Zakat, easy, interest-free loans play a crucial role in poverty alleviation and social cohesion. It is mentioned in authentic Hadiths that providing loans is akin to giving charity, with even greater rewards. As-Sunnah Trust endeavors to integrate Zakat and interest-free loans harmoniously. Many Muslims facing contemporary crises cannot receive Zakat. Hence, facilitating them with easy loans alongside Zakat is another primary objective of the Trust.
Medical Assistance Projects
Standing by the sick and providing medical assistance is another major aspect of Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) Sunnah. Being by the side of a Muslim brother in their sickness is emphasized. (Bukhari and Muslim) It is said, “Whoever visits a sick person or visits his brother for the sake of Allah, a caller calls out: ‘May you be happy, may your walking be blessed, and may you occupy a dignified position in Paradise.’” (Muslim) For this Sunnah, As-Sunnah Trust has initiated the “Yadatul Mariid” project, which provides free medical advice, medicine, financial assistance to the patients undergoing treatment, blood donation, and the establishment of medical centers.
These projects are designed to uphold the noble teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and serve humanity irrespective of any boundaries or divisions.
Orphan Care and Assistance Project
The utmost importance of providing care and assistance to orphans is emphasized in the Quran and Sunnah. Abdulloh Jahangir-As Sunnah Trust has undertaken projects for the upbringing, education, and employment of orphans in its own orphanages.
Widow and Distressed Women Assistance Project
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The one who strives to support widows and the needy is like the one who engages in jihad for the sake of Allah, or like the one who stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day.” (Sahih Bukhari) Providing support and assistance to widows and distressed women is a well-known Sunnah of the Companions. While awareness about orphan care exists in our society, awareness about widows is lacking. The “Widow and Distressed Women Project” by As-Sunnah Trust aims to revive the Sunnah of serving widows and distressed women. Widows are often deprived of their husband’s property rights and suffer from familial and societal ostracism. Additionally, they often face financial hardships. As-Sunnah Trust provides financial assistance, livelihood opportunities, and social and legal support to widows, besides safeguarding their rights.
Marriage and Family Formation Assistance Project
In Islam, marriage and family formation are given utmost importance. Zakat can be used for this purpose. Currently, marriage is being discouraged or delayed in various ways, and indecency is being promoted. As-Sunnah Trust has undertaken projects to revive this important Sunnah. The objectives of this project include assistance in spouse selection, facilitating marriage without dowry, providing employment opportunities for prospective spouses, offering special assistance, and providing counseling and support for maintaining familial harmony.
Legal Assistance Project
Standing by the oppressed is another Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He always emphasized this matter in his noble life. He said: “Among the most beloved deeds to Allah is to bring happiness to a believer, or to alleviate his hardship.” (Tabarani, Sahih al-Jami) Supporting and meeting the needs of the oppressed is a Sunnah. In order to establish this Sunnah of standing by the oppressed and meeting their needs, As-Sunnah Trust has adopted the “Legal Assistance Project.” The goal of this project is to provide all kinds of legal assistance, advice, moral support, increasing morale, and providing financial assistance to the weak and oppressed in social interactions, police stations, and courts.
Promotion of Awareness about Values and Rights
The dissemination of Islamic values through preaching, discussions, writings, and various Dawah activities remains constant in our country. However, the promotion of rights-oriented Islamic injunctions, human rights, and various familial and social values is quite limited. Therefore, As-Sunnah Trust has taken a special initiative to promote awareness in this regard. This includes organizing lectures, seminars, workshops, and distributing leaflets and books to spread the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah on issues such as environmental responsibility, rights of creation, service to creation, human rights, rights of children, women, and the vulnerable, familial, social, and humanitarian values, communal harmony, and the virtues of labor and physical effort.
For Self-purification and Self-development
Self-purification, self-development, and attainment of a pure and enlightened life are the primary goals of Islamic life organization. Regarding the responsibilities and agenda of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Allah says: “He will recite to them His verses and purify them and teach them the Book and wisdom.” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 129. Also see: Surah Al-Baqarah: 151; Surah Al-Imran: 164; Surah Al-Jumu’ah: 2). Allah also says: “Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while being a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.” (Surah An-Nahl: 97). Due to the lack of proper knowledge and practice of the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah, most believers are deprived of the true joy of self-purification and leading a pure life. Therefore, the propagation, dissemination, and training of the Quran and Sunnah-guided path and method for achieving self-purification, self-development, and attainment of a worry-free, enthusiastic, and virtuous life is another major initiative of As-Sunnah Trust, through weekly, monthly, and annual gatherings, training, discussions, and preaching.
As-Sunnah Awards
In order to encourage the dissemination and establishment of the Prophet’s Sunnah, As-Sunnah Trust has decided to award ‘honors’ and ‘awards’ to national and international personalities engaged in Sunnah-based education, research, service, development, and promotion.
As-Sunnah Publications
In order to publish research-oriented works based on the Sunnah and centered on the Sunnah, “As-Sunnah Publications” has been established. This institution is already capable of publishing about two dozen research works.
Internet-based Research and Promotion Project
Currently, due to various constraints such as transportation, busyness, and lack of interest, many people cannot participate in religious gatherings, discussions, etc. The internet is the easiest way to receive education while staying at home. Through the internet, Quran, pure Sunnah, and Islamic values can reach millions of people worldwide easily and at low cost through e-radio, e-magazines, Facebook, web pages, YouTube, etc., and through computer programs and software. The use of computers and the internet in religious and educational propagation is another major goal of As-Sunnah Trust. For this purpose, the trust has established a research cell and is making various efforts to achieve this goal.
In order to promote and disseminate all the objectives, aims, and activities of ‘As-Sunnah Trust,’ a council named ‘Majlisus Sunnah’ has been formed. The members of this council will strive to adopt the methods of the companions of the Prophet as much as possible for the acquisition, practice, and dissemination of Quran and Sunnah, as well as for the leadership and self-purification of family members and subordinates. They will uphold the rights of all members of society, alongside service and love, and invite them to the Sunnah. Through mutual exchange and cooperation with the Trust, they will spread discussions on the Prophet’s Sunnah, research, Sunnah-based Islamic beliefs, values, education, morality, self-purification, affection, love, tolerance, humanitarian service, and service to creation. Enthusiastic believers, both domestically and internationally, will be able to participate in the blessed work of preaching and establishing the Prophet’s Sunnah through the establishment of branches of ‘Majlisus Sunnah’ at any location.
